County Waterford

Crowes (approx 135 familiy groups) are difficult to link together here. Some appear to have moved from Tipperary - the Suir river also provides road access to the coast at Waterford City via Cahir, Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir in Tipperary

DUNGARVAN

Picturesque location in the large, sheltered bay with a backdrop of the Comeragh mountains. It is the second city of the county and was once a thriving port, despite tricky sailing channels through the bay. There are large mudflats exposed at low tide and currents at the entrance to the harbour.

Gambonsfield

Grateful for correspondence from Charlene McCrowe in Canada for information to establish links to these Crowes. This is typical of the oral and sometimes records made in the new lands that were lost in the homeland. Charlene had established many branches to her tree in Newfoundland and has now established a new line of research as Fleming is also associated with Crowe in the west of Ireland.

Clonmel

Placed mostly on the flatter north side of the river Suir. The south is the immediate rise of the Comeraghs that keeps the river flowing to the east and to Waterford City. The north side is in Tipperary and so the citys administration is with that county. It is included here as families show no obvious links to Tipperary.
