I am particularly interested in this parish, as I believe all the Crowes here are related to me. Orally three different relatives attest to this idea but I still have to prove it.


Bercury, Boland, Burke, Butler, Corcoran, Costelo, Crook, Danaher, Dwyer, Fahy, Griffin, Halloran, Hayes, Kenedy, Laffan, Lanagan, Magrath, Meagher, Quinlan, Russell, Ryan, Stapleton, Walsh

You will see a common name here is Denis Crowe. Apart from a group of Denis Crowes in Upperchurch this seems to be a separate group or 'stream' as I prefer tocall it. Denis Crowes seem to move out of this parish north-west towards Silvermines and Nenagh. Some of them were miners too. Nearby is a place called Coppermines.

I was told that a Denis Crowe relation had notions of grandeur and you will notice the marriages to merchants - so maybe the tale was true?
